AST Adds Chain Link: AST Research Inc., an Irvine computer maker, said it will begin selling its Advantage! line of desktop computers through BJ’s Wholesale Club stores on the East Coast.
The announcement marks AST’s first entry into the warehouse club retail market. The Advantage! line, geared toward the small business and home computer markets, will be sold in 30 BJ’s Wholesale Club locations, the company said.
Sales of computers by warehouse chains have become popular as consumers have begun to put more emphasis on low prices than in technical support, the company said.
BJ’s Wholesale Club, the East Coast version of Price Club, joins Circuit City, Computer City and the Army and Air Force Exchange Service in selling the AST systems.
