Olympus Takes Over: Olympus Optical Co. Ltd., the Tokyo-based maker of cameras and other high-tech products, said it has increased its ownership in an Irvine computer printer manufacturer, Image Systems Inc., to 90% from 60%.
Olympus and C.Itoh & Co. Ltd., also in Tokyo, co-founded Image Systems in 1985. Olympus last week said it would acquire the majority ownership of the venture for an undisclosed price. C.Itoh still owns 10% of the joint venture, which will be renamed Olympus Image Systems in May.
