David Bourne started the Cougar rally when he was hit by a pitch with one out. Darrin McCall doubled to put runners on second and third before Bernas came through with his second hit of the game played at Clark High. Miguel Diaz (3-0) pitched a six-hitter for Kennedy (10-4).
Other Bishop Gorman Classic games:
Chino Ayala 8, Oceanside 2--Ryan Bradley almost single-handedly dismantled the Pirates (7-6-2) with his two-hit pitching and a three-run home run in the sixth inning. Bradley had nine strikeouts in improving to 3-0 for Ayala. His sixth-inning homer was a mammoth shot that cleared the light standard at Chaparral High. It broke the game open for Ayala, which led, 3-2. John Portugal (2-2) took the loss for Oceanside, striking out eight and walking five.
