U.S. Oil Production Down, Imports Up: The American Petroleum Institute announced that the United States increased its oil imports by almost 9% in March. At the same time, domestic production fell to the lowest levels since 1986. The API report forecast U.S. crude production declining about 150,000 to 200,000 barrels a day in the Lower 48 states and 100,000 barrels a day in Alaska.
