VALLEY AREA : 3 Post Offices to Stay Open Late
Post offices in Van Nuys, Burbank and Santa Clarita will remain open until midnight Wednesday for those rushing to meet the deadline to file income tax returns.
The Van Nuys Main Post Office, 15701 Sherman Way, will open at 9 a.m. and remain open until midnight, said Gerry Haskell, spokeswoman for the Van Nuys division of the U. S. Postal Service.
Customers will be able to purchase stamps in the lobby and post their returns, but other services will not be available, Haskell said.
The office will also offer eight curbside collection points along Sherman Way and Haskell Avenue near the facility. About 30 postal employees wearing orange vests will stand at the curb to accept mail from motorists. Postal employees and Los Angeles police officers will direct traffic in the area, Haskell said.
The post offices at 2140 N. Hollywood Way, Burbank, and 24355 Creekside Road, Santa Clarita, will also remain open until midnight for those who need to purchase stamps or mail returns.
