Julia Trotman of Syosset, N.Y., won for the second day in a row to take the lead in the women’s Europe dinghy class from top-ranked Courtenay Becker of Rye, N.Y., in the U.S. Olympic Sailing Trials at Newport Beach. Three of 10 races remain, with Trotman leading Becker, the only other contender, 14.7 points to 19.4.
The 1988 bronze medalists in 470s, John Shadden of Long Beach and crew Charlie McKee of Seattle, got their first victory to move up to fourth place.
Morgan Reeser and crew Kevin Burnham of Florida have a commanding lead on the fleet.
