Coach Fired Unfairly
It seems that those old birds who run our schools have decided to fire Coach Tom King (“Students, Parents Back Fired Coach, March 14). From all that I can tell, students and parents agree that King is very concerned with the welfare of his students. But the school board is all riled because of reports that King’s students were bored and confused during his economics class.
Is it fair to fire King just because he can’t get a group of teen-agers very excited, when even the President and our congressmen are bored and confused each time they have to deal with the deficit?
The school board keeps yammering about ways to improve public education. The members fail to recognize that our schools would be improved if we retain teachers, like King, who really are interested in the welfare of the students.
