West Hollywood : Budget Cut Another $110,000
- Share via
The West Hollywood City Council pared another $110,000 from its budget Monday, bringing total midyear cuts to about $910,00.
Still, the city probably will have to dip into its reserves to cover an expected general fund shortfall of about $550,000.
The newest reductions covered items such as computer programming, training and travel to out-of-town conferences by City Hall staffers. The action was largely symbolic because it cut money that City Manager Paul Brotzman said probably would have gone unspent.
Travel and conference spending has been a campaign issue for incumbent Paul Koretz, who has called it “fluff” that should be slashed. Brotzman said, though, that the travel budget also includes the city’s membership in important municipal organizations and the costs of playing host to and attending local meetings with officials from neighboring communities.
