COLLEGE BASEBALL ROUNDUP : Ornelas Leads Mission to Win Over Compton

Dereck Ornelas was three for four with two doubles and Jamie Encinas pitched a complete game to spark host Mission College past Compton, 12-4, in a Southern California Conference game at Valley College.

Jose Gallegos was three for four with two runs batted in for the Free Spirit (7-12-1, 4-6 in conference play).

Encinas (2-4) gave up 11 hits and struck out nine.

Canyons 4, Santa Monica 3--Anthony Chessani stroked a one-out single to left in the ninth inning to drive in Danny Gray with the winning run for host Canyons (12-12, 9-4) in a Western State Conference game.

George Lopata was three for three with two doubles and an RBI for the Cougars.

Glendale 12, Oxnard 11 (10 innings)--Six players had two hits for Oxnard (2-18, 2-10), but the Condors were unable to hold a 10-2 fourth-inning lead in a WSC game at Glendale’s Stengel Field.
