Health Net Gets New Bid: Qual-Med Inc., renewing its bid to acquire Health Net, said it offered at least $100 million for California’s second-largest health maintenance organization. The bid from Qual-Med, a publicly held health care provider based in Pueblo, Colo., came 2 1/2 weeks after California approved Health Net’s conversion from a nonprofit to for-profit corporation. Qual-Med made a takeover offer before Health Net converted. Jim Lucas, a spokesman at Health Net’s Woodland Hills headquarters, said the company is studying the latest bid.
