Federal Agencies Seize Northrop Records
The Federal Bureau of Investigation and three other federal agencies executed a search warrant at Northrop Corp. facilities in El Segundo last week, confiscating documents on a top-secret Army munitions program.
A Northrop spokesman confirmed Monday that the firm was searched Feb. 11, but said he would have no comment about what was removed. The investigation is focused on the BAT weapon, an antitank munition that uses acoustic sensors to find its target.
The existence of the BAT weapon, which is under development, was only disclosed by Northrop last year. The company said it is cooperating with federal agents and has no information on the scope of the investigation.
