Save the Station: A small group in Studio City marched to KMPC (710 AM) station owner Gene Autry’s house near Laurel Canyon on Monday to protest the station’s plan to change from pop standards to an all-sports-talk format. Holding placards that read, “No sweat, all music,” and “Where will we hear Natalie Cole, Frank Sinatra, Harry Connick Jr.?,” a group of KMPC’s fans called on Autry to put a stop to the impending change, which was announced two weeks ago and is set for the spring. Protest organizer Jack McGrath said station general manager Bill Ward made a poor business decision in deciding to convert the station.
