Two Views of Soka University
Assemblyman Tom Hayden’s letter in the Feb. 4 Valley Edition was most welcome. Hopefully, it will cause others to speak out on behalf of saving the Santa Monica Mountains from the massive commercial development that the Soka-Gakkai’s unaccredited “university” has proposed.
His letter is neither “Japan bashing” nor “hate mail.” It is a sad state of affairs when a public figure can’t speak candidly on any issue without facing such charges, which are totally absurd, the big lie tactic again.
Perhaps the biggest lie was to mention Soka in the same breath as the Catholic or the Lutheran Church. Why compare a commercial enterprise to a legitimate religious organization?
The fact is, the Soka-Gakkai and the arms of this octopus are a giant money machine that was structured specifically to comply, just barely, with the tax-exempt status requirements.
