Conley sccored four goals to lead St. Joseph to a 6-3 Angelus League win over Bishop Amat. She scored twice in the last five minutes of the game to tie the score at 3-3, then added the go-ahead goal in overtime. Conley’s coach, Ed Chavez, says her “speed and athletic ability set her apart from other athletes.”
Other top performers:
* Sherise Sandoz, junior forward on the Pius X basketball team, scored 57 points and grabbed 42 rebounds in two lopsided Camino Real League victories. Sandoz scored 27 points and had 22 rebounds in an 86-34 win over St. Monica, then added 30 points and 20 rebounds as the Warriors clinched the league title with a 61-48 victory over St. Anthony.
* Laura Berg, a Santa Fe High basketball player, scored a career-high 37 points as the Chiefs upset El Rancho, 77-72, in overtime. She also added 16 points as Santa Fe improved to 10-2 with a 55-51 win over Bell Gardens.
