Remarks About U.S. Workers
The denigrating comments made by Speaker Sakurauchi of Japan’s House of Representatives about workers in the United States is reprehensible. His comments will have further serious and injurious effects here in the United States for the Japanese-American and Asian/Pacific Islander communities. These consequences, in certain cases, have revealed themselves in terms of race prejudice, hate crimes and anti-Asian violence.
The Civil Rights Caucus of the Japanese American Citizens League--Pacific Southwest District, which is part of the oldest and largest national Asian-American civil rights organization representing over 25,000 members, denounces the remarks made by Sakurauchi. He must be held accountable for his statements.
