After blowing a 14-point second-half lead, Cal Lutheran defeated Redlands, 96-94, Saturday night in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference basketball game on two free throws by guard Jeff deLaveaga with four seconds to play.
The victory gave host Cal Lutheran (9-9, 5-1 in conference play) sole possession of first place in the conference. Redlands (13-4, 4-2) and La Verne are both one game behind the Kingsmen.
Redlands had tied the score with 10 seconds to play on a three-point basket by center David Purdy. Purdy then fouled deLaveaga, who finished with 41 points.
Simon O’Donnell had 17 points and 15 rebounds for the Kingsmen and Kelly Crosby contributed 13 points.
