Olympics and Magic

I am concerned that the remarks of a few ignorant members of the Australian basketball Olympic team concerning Magic Johnson may be represented as reflecting the attitude of all Australians. This is not the case. Australians love their sport, admire champions and believe in a “fair go.” I am deeply saddened by these remarks and on behalf of the majority of Australians, I would like to apologize to Magic Johnson, the American people and to my many friends in the States.
