Pedestrian Killed by Hit-Run Driver

A hit-and-run driver killed a man who was trying to run across Otay Mesa Road, authorities said Saturday.
A westbound white Ford van hit the man shortly after 6 p.m. Friday, said Lt. Tom Orden of the San Diego police. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The van sustained heavy damage to its front end, witnesses told police.
The identity of the victim, believed to be a Latino about 30 years old, has not been determined, a coroner’s investigator said.
