A fund to help the widow and three children of a Pomona man who was fatally shot last week after returning home from work has been established by the Pomona Valley Council of Churches.
Gavino Ruiz-Diaz, 30, who held two jobs to support his family, was shot late Monday while he was parking his car in an alley outside the family’s apartment in the 2400 block of Chanslor Street. Police said someone fired several shots. No motive has been established.
Mary Elliott, a neighbor, said his family, including three children from 4 to 9 years old, has been left without any money for living expenses or the burial.
Donations may be sent to the Pomona Valley Council of Churches, 1753 N. Park Ave., Pomona, 91768.
