Singing a New ‘Toon

I had to laugh when Woolverton said, “Belle is a feminist.” Apparently she has never seen a convention of the National Organization for Women.

I caught the feminists of NOW at their convention last year on C-SPAN. There were no Belles in that crowd. The women there were more like the character Linda Hamilton played in “Terminator 2.”

If Belle were a true feminist, she would have killed the Beast and mounted his head above the front door as a warning sign for other “male beasts.” Belle would then have used her would-be oppressor’s fur coat as a doormat and taken up a relationship with Mrs. Potts, the only person who really “understood” her.
