Fireworks Plant Blast Kills 5 Portuguese Boys

LISBON — Five boys were killed when an explosion blew up a fireworks factory in the northern Portuguese city of Guimaraes, news reports said Wednesday.
The boys, ages 11 to 16, sneaked into the factory after dark looking for carnival firecrackers, said a police officer quoted by the Lusa news agency.
The officer said they caused the explosion by lighting a match in a dark storage shed. The blast started a fire that tore through part of the factory.
One 13-year-old boy survived the blast with slight injuries.
