High School Teachers Chosen for Recognition
Harvey Mudd College will hold its first teacher recognition program Saturday through Monday, bringing 20 high school teachers from nine states to the campus in Claremont.
Teachers and college faculty member will exchange ideas on high school curriculum. Teachers also will attend college classes taught by their faculty liaison and learn about the faculty member’s research.
The teachers were nominated by Harvey Mudd freshmen as teachers who most inspired and encouraged them to continue their education.
They include Richard B. Sisley, who teaches mathematics at Polytechnic School in Pasadena, and two teachers from San Marino High School: Cynthia Chubbuck, chemistry, and Kent Hartman, calculus.
The cost of the program, to be paid by the college, is $9,000.
