Rep. Aspin to Speak on Military Future
IRVINE — Rep. Les Aspin, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, will speak tonight at UC Irvine on the future of the U.S. military.
Aspin, a Democrat from Wisconsin, will begin his talk at 8 in the Crystal Cove Auditorium of the university student center. The event is free to the public.
Aspin is visiting UCI as the third annual Julius Margolis Lecturer, and is being sponsored by the university’s Global Peace and Conflict Studies program. The lecturer position is named for one of the program’s founding members.
Aspin’s two-hour talk is titled “Congress and the Future of the American Military.”
