Some ‘Testimony’ Rings a Little False

Re the review of “Native American Testimony” (“An Anthology of Indian Voices,” Dec. 31): Most of us know John Jay (not John Marshall) was the first Chief Justice of the United States. Marshall was third or fourth, depending on whether you count John Rutledge, who never actually served.
(The article also refers to “Blackfeet” Indians.) I took a course at Eastern Montana College last year taught by a Blackfoot lawyer. Her crusade was to inform the world (that) her tribe was Blackfoot, singular or plural.
