LOYAL FANS: Even after a disappointing season, the Angels still have a core of loyal fans. A late flurry of season ticket renewals is expected to bring the 1992 total up to par with last year’s 17,500. . . . “With the economy being softer, people are waiting until the last minute,” says Carl Gordon, director of the Angels’ ticket department. Wednesday is the deadline for Angel season ticket holders to renew for 1992 and guarantee they’ll have the same seats at the Big A. After that, new season tickets will be available.

Helene Elliott was with the Los Angeles Times’ Sports department from 1989 to 2024, first as a staff writer and then, starting in 2006, as a columnist.
