California IN BRIEF : SAN BERNARDINO : Search Pressed for Missing Girl, 9
- Share via
Police went door to door here in hopes of gathering information about a missing 9-year-old girl. Sandra Astorga was last seen by her family at 8:30 a.m. Friday when she left for Roosevelt Elementary School, said police spokeswoman Sherrie Guerrero. A crossing guard saw her a few moments later, but she never showed up at school and she never arrived home, Guerrero said. Ten reserve officers spread across the city to question residents and distribute flyers. Guerrero said the department has asked the FBI to begin a preliminary investigation to see whether the girl was kidnaped. The department also was checking with relatives in Tijuana to see whether she tried to make her way there. In some school papers, the girl had indicated she missed her grandparents in Mexico, Guerrero said.
