Maxwell Brothers Summoned by Parliamentary Committee: Kevin and Ian Maxwell face tough questions from a powerful parliamentary committee today over their role in the collapse of their late father Robert’s business empire. The Social Security Committee issued a rarely used parliamentary order to compel the brothers to appear after they failed to show up to a hearing in December. The committee is probing the disappearance of hundreds of millions of dollars of Maxwell company pension funds that apparently were diverted in the months before Maxwell’s mysterious death at sea in November. Lawyers for the Maxwell brothers have told the committee that the pair will comply with the order to appear.
