HEROES UNSUNG: Nhi Hung Dinh of Huntington Beach, above, was 18 in 1955 when trained by the American CIA to infiltrate the enemy in North Vietnam. It eventually cost him 17 years in communist prisons (Times Magazine). He was allowed to leave Vietnam with family members in 1990. He remembers the American who signed him up as a youth. . . . “He told us we were going to be heroes,” Dinh says, “but the outside world must not know of our heroism.”
