COLLEGE ROUNDUP : CCI Ties School Record in 110-76 Victory
Christ College Irvine defeated LIFE Bible 110-76 Tuesday in a nonconference men’s basketball game at Irvine.
D’Andre Brown scored 22 points, Charles Lockard had 21 and four other players scored in double figures for the Eagles (8-8), who tied the school record for points in a game.
In Golden State Athletic Conference women’s basketball:
Fresno Pacific 97, Southern California College 47--Forward Cyndie Lyons scored 16 points for Southern California College (6-10, 0-1 in the conference), but it wasn’t enough as five players scored in double figures for Fresno Pacific College (1-0, 12-2).
In nonconference women’s basketball:
Christ College Irvine 74, Pomona Pitzer 56--CCI took a 40-23 lead at halftime and was never threatened, forcing 15 turnovers and holding Pomona Pitzer (8-3) to 40% shooting from the field. Nancy Geisler, who had four three-pointers, and Gitte Mejer led CCI (10-2) with 18 points each. Kaisa Kepsu added 16 points. Caryn Cranston had 18 points and 10 rebounds.
At the Milwaukee Men’s Tennis Classic:
Anteaters Advance--UC Irvine’s Brett Hansen-Dent, seeded seventh, defeated John Fox of UC Santa Barbara, 6-2, 6-1, in the second round of the Milwaukee Tennis Classic. Hansen-Dent also defeated J.P. Demetriou of Ball State, 6-2, 6-4 in the first round.
UC Irvine’s Fred Bach defeated John Kronenberger of Xavier, 6-2, 6-2 in the first round and David Slonac of Wisconsin Milwaukee, 6-3, 6-4, in the second round.
