Firebomb Thrown at Preschool a Dud
SANTA ANA — A “Molotov cocktail-type device” was thrown through the rear window of a preschool at Temple Beth Shalom over the weekend, but it failed to ignite and caused no damage other than a broken window, police said.
The device was noticed Sunday morning by temple staff and was apparently thrown during the night when the building was empty, police said.
The device did not ignite although it had been lighted, Sgt. Dave Petko said.
“It burned and fizzled out,” he said. “The only property damage was the broken window.”
Police said there was no known motive for the incident.
