The NFL will not take down the MIA-POW flag hanging from the roof inside the Metrodome in Minneapolis.
An NFL spokesman said the flag amounts to a political statement, which could prompt other groups to demand equal treatment. But after learning that veterans’ groups and others who helped put up the 18-by-28-foot black and white flag were angry over the possible action and that media attention was probable, the NFL backed down.
The NFL has exclusive control of the Metrodome for the Jan. 26 Super Bowl.
