Nation IN BRIEF : WASHINGTON, D.C. : 13 Hurt as Airliner Meets Turbulence

Thirteen people aboard a TransBrasil Airlines jetliner were injured when the Boeing 767 encountered severe turbulence near Puerto Rico, airline and government officials said. The airline said Flight 790 with 124 people aboard encountered turbulence at 39,000 feet over the Caribbean. The passengers were injured when they struck overhead compartments and the backs of seats, the airline said. Those wearing seat belts as instructed were not injured, it said.
