Police Captain Moved to 77th Street Division
Paul D. Jefferson of Pomona, a Los Angeles Police Department captain, assumed command of the 77th Street Division of the LAPD on Dec. 1.
A 23-year veteran of the LAPD, Jefferson was transferred from the Foothill Patrol Division, where he was commanding officer. Jefferson was moved to Foothill in April to help restore public confidence in the station after the Rodney G. King incident.
Four Foothill officers were charged with beating King after he was pulled over for a traffic violation in March. The incident drew national notoriety after an amateur photographer videotaped the beating.
David Watkins of Glendale was appointed director of marketing at Garfield Medical Center in Monterey Park.
Peter Hidalgo of Walnut has been named manager of marketing and media relations of the Southern California Regional Rail Authority, which operates Metrolink.
Shirley Tang of Arcadia has been named nurse manager for Garfield Medical Center’s Rehabilitation Services.
Foothill Family Service, a nonprofit counseling center, recently named four new members to its board of directors. They are Christie Skinner, Dr. Gerda G. Steele and Billie J. Williams, all of Pasadena, and Phyllis P. Crandon of La Canada Flintridge.
