Motorcyclist Accused of Riding in Fire Area
A national motocross champion was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of riding a motorcycle in a hazardous fire area, authorities said.
It was the fourth time that Michael Kiedrowski, 23, of Acton was caught riding in a prohibited area, Lt. Don Rodriguez of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said. The other three times he was cited at the scene and released, Rodriguez said.
A sheriff’s helicopter spotted Kiedrowski and three other motorcyclists in Baker Canyon, a remote area off Sierra Highway, Rodriguez said. Their bikes lacked spark arresters, which put out possible sparks from the exhaust that could cause a fire, Rodriquez said.
Kiedrowski, who could not be reached for comment, was booked on the misdemeanor charge at the Santa Clarita sheriff’s station and released on his own recognizance, Rodriguez said.
