2.7 Million Added to U.S. Population in ’91

WASHINGTON — The United States rings in the new year with 2.7 million more people than it had a year ago, with a population of 253.6 million, the Census Bureau said Tuesday. That figure is based on an estimate of 4 million births, 2.1 million deaths and 725,000 immigrants during 1991.
