Mexico to Import Cars to Replace Old Polluters

MEXICO CITY — A government official says Mexico will import cars from South Korea in 1992 to help in its campaign to replace old, smog-belching taxis with newer cars, the government daily El Nacional reported Tuesday.
Armando Lopez Santibanez, director general of urban transport for Mexico City, said the vehicles will sell for roughly $4,000--about $3,000 less than the cheapest car now sold in Mexico.
