367 Prisoners Set Free in Nepal on King’s Birthday

KATMANDU, Nepal — The Nepalese government released 367 prisoners from the nation’s jails Sunday as a gesture on the 46th birthday of King Birendra, who gave up his rights as absolute ruler after a popular uprising in 1990.
The prisoners had been jailed for crimes ranging from theft to murder, according to a statement issued by the Interior Ministry.
