A 60-year-old man was killed early Friday on the Coronado Bridge when his car was hit from behind and forced into the path of an oncoming bus, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Norman G. Rundquist of Larkspur, in the Bay Area, was driving west at 1:20 a.m. when a car driven at high speed by Michael J. Minor, a sailor, hit him, the CHP said.
“The victim lost control and ended up in the eastbound lane, where he was broadsided by the bus,” CHP officer Tom Christian said.
Minor fled and was arrested 20 minutes later by San Diego police, who recognized the car from a description, Christian said.
Minor was held on suspicion of felony manslaughter and felony hit and run, Christian said. He and two passengers in his car were identified as crewmen on the aircraft carrier Ranger.
