Eight teen-agers were taken into custody late Thursday for shooting out the windows of at least a dozen vehicles in Thousand Oaks and Agoura, county law enforcement officials said.
The drive-by vandalism spree ended at 10:15 p.m. when Ventura County Sheriff’s Deputy Vince Camou stopped a vehicle on Camino Dos Palos that matched the description furnished by a witness to one of the shootings, Detective Sgt. Kitty Hoberg said.
Camou recovered three BB guns from the suspects, four girls and four boys ranging in age from 15 to 17.
“The kids have pretty well admitted their involvement,” Hoberg said.
The suspects, who were released into their parents’ custody, were ordered to meet with county probation officials, who will consider filing charges with the district attorney’s office, Hoberg said.
