Paramedics Are Needed

The Ventura County Professional Firefighters Assn. is pleased with Supervisor Maggie Erickson Kildee’s letter to her constituents regarding her support for providing firefighter paramedics in all of the county’s fire stations.
Erickson Kildee realizes that the only long-term solution for providing first-class emergency medical service is to place firefighter paramedics throughout the county.
We are, however, distressed over Supervisor Vicky Howard’s unwillingness to make a commitment to support the issue.
It is inconceivable that she would not be leading the charge to improve the quality of emergency medical service currently being provided to the citizens of her
own district in the city of Moorpark.
The Moorpark City Council has agreed to furnish 100% of the funding to augment the current system and has steadfastly maintained that the long-term solution to the inadequacies in the emergency medical system is to allow the Fire Department to provide paramedic service.
We hope that the supervisors who are not actively working toward providing firefighter paramedics will lend their support in order to expedite the process.
There is no more important an issue to come before the Board of Supervisors than one that deals with public safety.
