Escondido Man Shot in Home by Intruder

An Escondido man who was awakened by the sound of breaking glass early Saturday was shot in the stomach by an intruder, police said.
Police said the man’s female companion identified the intruder’s voice as that of her ex-boyfriend. After he fired several shots from a handgun, the attacker fled.
The victim was treated by paramedics and then taken to Palomar Medical Center. He was later flown to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla.
The names of the victim and the suspect are being withheld pending further investigation.
