In another La Canada tournament game:
Morningside 100, San Fernando 73--San Fernando took an 18-2 lead midway through the first quarter, then was outscored in a 51-13 run before halftime in a first-round game.
“All of a sudden, (Morningside) decided to play,” San Fernando Coach Dick Crowell said. “They put on a press that really rattled us. They are huge and quick and talented.”
San Fernando sophomore guard Javier Ramos scored a game-high 37 points, including five three-point baskets, to pace the Tigers (2-3).
L.A. INVITATIONAL
Marshall 69, Cleveland 67--Shawn Bankhead scored 27 points and Jeremy Garcia added 16 for Cleveland (2-6) in a second-round game. Cleveland trailed, 51-44, and made a run in the waning minutes but came up short.
BOSCO TECH TOURNAMENT
Hoover 76, Bosco Tech 69--Chad Reese scored a game-high 34 points and teammate Dave Ulloa scored 27 as Hoover (5-2) won a quarterfinal game.
HAMILTON TOURNAMENT
Kennedy 62, Hamilton 45--Kennedy outscored Hamilton, 18-6, in the fourth quarter to seal the semifinal victory. Joe Wyatt scored 25 points for the Golden Cougars (7-3).
SHERMAN OAKS CES TOURNAMENT
Sherman Oaks CES 55, Van Nuys 52--Barry McWright scored a game-high 22 points and Khalif Muhammad and John Cannon each had 12 for Sherman Oaks CES (5-1).
MOJAVE TOURNAMENT
Littlerock 56, Bakersfield Stockdale 24--James Cain scored a game-high 16 points and Mitch Casey added 14 to lead Littlerock (9-1) in a first-round game.
NONLEAGUE
Taft 78, Banning 72--Casey Sheahan scored 32 points and the host Toreadors (7-1) held off a late Banning surge.
Sheahan had 18 points in the first quarter and 26 by the half. But after building a 59-37 lead early in the third quarter, Taft had to hold on to win. Miguel Carrillo added 19 points and 13 rebounds for the Toreadors. Banning fell to 5-3.
Glendale 68, Antelope Valley 47--Mike Wright scored 31 points and added eight rebounds and six blocked shots for visiting Glendale (5-4). Hai Tran scored 15 points and had eight assists and six steals.
Faith Baptist 89, Moorpark 70--Alex Estrada scored a game-high 25 points and Etienne Moore contributed 22 points and 18 rebounds to lead Faith Baptist (6-3), which took a 41-23 halftime lead.
James DeCarriere had 14 points and six steals and Peter Rasmussen added 14 points for Faith Baptist. Ryan Huisenga scored 19 points to lead Moorpark (3-6).
Oak Park 55, Providence 52--Eric Pryor scored 11 of his 18 points, including six of six free throws, in the fourth quarter to lead the host Eagles (2-4).
