GARDEN GROVE — A husband and wife who allegedly operated an illegal lottery from their store for five years have been arrested.
Concluding a three-week investigation on Wednesday, police arrested Sathian Huntavichana, 53, and Rachada Chulapatrcheevin, 43. They were booked on misdemeanor charges of bookmaking and released, police said.
Investigators found approximately $50,000 in cash at the couple’s store, Thai Laos Market at 3710 Westminster Ave., police said. They also seized ledgers that may have been used to keep track of betting, police said.
The couple may have earned about $3,000 per week on the illegal game, said Garden Grove police investigator Bill Johnson.
