CalPERS Lifts Salomon Suspension: The California Public Employees’ Retirement System has lifted a 4-month-old ban on trading U.S. government securities with Salomon Bros. The ban was imposed in reaction to Salomon’s violations involving the auctions of U.S. Treasury securities. CalPERS said it decided to renew its relationship with Salomon in light of the steps the firm has made under Chairman Warren E. Buffett to prevent future violations.
