Two armed men stole nearly $12,000 from the Santa Clarita Elks Lodge in Canyon Country on Monday after forcing an employee who was locking the facility to lead them to the money, sheriff’s deputies and lodge officials said.
No one was injured in the robbery, which took place about 1:45 a.m., said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. Mike Morton.
Patricia Wynn, 40, was closing the bar and restaurant when two men ordered her to unlock the door and lead them to the office where receipts are kept, Morton said. Gil Gilchrist, exalted ruler of the lodge, said the gunmen took nearly $12,000.
Wynn stayed in the office and did not see which direction the men went. An alarm company alerted by the reopening of the door notified the Sheriff’s Department, Gilchrist said. No one had been arrested, Morton said.
