OUTLOOK
Chauncy Woolridge, the sixth-leading scorer in the county last year with a 27.1 average, has graduated along with the four other starters. Santa Ana faces a major rebuilding year with reserve Morales the only varsity player returning. Morales is a three-point threat who scored 16 points in an 84-42 loss to Santa Margarita Wednesday. Morse, in his second year, has only five seniors on the roster and only three players who stand 6 feet 3 or taller. Santa Ana’s best big man is junior center Garcia, a starting tackle on the Saints’ league championship football team. “Our strength this year will lie mainly in our cohesiveness and commitment to improvement,” Morse said. “This group has put in countless hours of practice, summer play and conditioning in order to meet the challenges of the Sunset League. Our obvious weaknesses are our lack of overall size and varsity experience.” Vasquez has emerged as a legitimate scoring threat in his past two games, scoring 14 points in a 57-44 victory over La Habra and 21 points in a 75-62 loss to Cypress.
