High Five America Slaps UC San Diego

High Five America, a traveling men’s basketball team, scored a 74-72 exhibition victory Sunday over UC San Diego.
High Five America, based in Rancho Bernardo, was led by Anthony Thomas, who scored 26 points. Erik Johnson and Chris Moore scored 16 points apiece for UCSD.
High Five America led at halftime, 49-46, after shooting 65% from the field, but the team shot just 29% in the second half. UCSD shot 53% in the first half, 35% in the second.
UCSD pulled to 73-72 after trailing 73-63 late in the second half.
FIGURE SKATING
Local athletes Brigit Luciani and Robert Engle took second place at the Pacific Coast Figure Skating Championships in Tacoma, Wash. San Diego’s Luciani and La Jolla’s Engle trailed only All Year’s Deanna Stanton and Paul Morris in the Adult Senior Dance competition.
