HOMEGROWN: If you go the book route, why not pick native authors? Maxine O’Callaghan’s latest Delilah West mystery, “Set Up,” mixes murder and overdevelopment in Orange County. And there’s Laguna Beach author Theodore Taylor’s young-adult suspense novel, “The Weirdo.”. . . But don’t look for best-selling author Dean R. Koontz of Newport Beach to have his new suspense novel, “Hideaway,” out in time for Christmas. Like his past five books, it won’t be out until January. “I’m something of a fussbudget,” he says, “I don’t deliver them until August,” too late for December sales.
