WEEKEND TV : Children’s Shows Have Yule Cheer
- Share via
Holiday and children’s specials decorate a weekend otherwise overrun with football, presidential politics and talk about the 200th anniversary of the Bill of Rights.
With his misdemeanor problems in Florida behind him, Paul Reubens, a.k.a. Pee-wee Herman, resurfaces in a special from happier times today at 11 a.m. on MTV. Taped in 1988, “Pee-wee’s Playhouse Christmas Special” features the wacky comedian and all the regulars from his old CBS series.
Another children’s hero returns to television tonight at 8 (7)(3)(10)(42) in “Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too.” In this new animated special, the beloved bear gets into trouble for failing to deliver to Santa his community’s Christmas wish-list.
The third in a series of children’s news shows, “Nickelodeon Special Edition: In Someone Else’s Shoes,” will air Sunday on the cable channel at 6:30 p.m. Produced by Linda Ellerbee, this installment examines the negative effects of stereotyping.
