Suspect in 3-Year-Old’s Kidnaping Gets 18 Years
The man suspected of masterminding the kidnaping of 3-year-old Milan DePillars from his Hyde Park home was sentenced Thursday to 18 years in prison for abducting and raping the boy’s mother last year.
Lawrence F. Floyd, 27, pleaded no contest to the charges in October, after Milan’s mother testified that Floyd had stalked her, kidnaped her and sexually assaulted her in a South-Central Los Angeles motel room.
Detectives said that they believe Floyd orchestrated the abduction of her son in a bungled attempt to keep her from testifying, but in court Thursday Floyd denied having any part in it. Milan was found unharmed after being held captive for three days in a Ventura motel, and two suspects were charged in his kidnaping.
